About

Maitreyee is IBM Research - India's annual women and LGBTQ+ outreach event with a mission to enable computer science researchers from academia and industry to collaborate, learn and network with each other. Every year, IBM Research Labs India has been organizing the event to provide a platform for women in computing to network with one another. This year we are also making an explicit call to the LGBTQ+ community. It aims at inspiring these underrepresented groups in tech to achieve their professional goals through a host of talks, leadership sessions, panel discussions, and mentoring opportunities. This unique initiative aims to bring together the brightest in technology including students, faculty members, researchers, industry speakers, domain experts, and entrepreneurs, for an active exchange of thoughts and ideas. Maitreyee also provides opportunities to enable discussions on how they can successfully grow their technical careers.

Research Showcase

Maitreyee 2023 event invites submission of blogs/vlogs or demos from women in technology willing to showcase their knowledge. The content should be on technical topics pertaining to Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Quantum Computing, Cloud and/or Climate and Sustainability. Out of all the submissions, top 3 entries will be selected for a short presentation/demonstration during Maitreyee by the author themselves.

  • Quantum computing – Dr. Anupama Ray
    Quantum Computing represents a new computing paradigm. Quantum computers can work in unison with current computing infrastructure to solve complex problems that were previously thought impractical or impossible. This can be paradigm-shifting. Now is the right time for research leaders to prepare for quantum. The conditions are in place to experiment and expand this fundamentally new technology. In a survey by Gartner, 44% of enterprises expect quantum to have a substantial impact on businesses in the next 3-5 years. The demand for quantum skills is expected to grow 135% in the next 5 years. Organisations that seek to be at the forefront of this transformational shift will seize competitive advantage.

    Enhancing Log Comprehension with LLMs: Unleashing Further AdvancementsKaran Bhukar & Pranjal Gupta
    This project focuses on improving log comprehension by leveraging domain specific LLM. The goal is to make it easier to understand large log data by performing tasks such as log format recognition, log parsing, segmentation, metric/dimension/golden signal classification, enterprise event data representation, and accurate log format detection. By harnessing the power of LLMs, we aim to develop a foundational model that addresses the various challenges involved in log comprehension.

    Building an Enterprise-Grade Chatbot using Large Language Models – Dinesh Raghu
    In today's digital era, enterprises are increasingly adopting chatbot technology to enhance customer support and streamline internal processes. However, developing an enterprise-grade chatbot poses unique challenges that demand careful consideration. One crucial requirement is the ability to leverage internal documents and seamlessly integrate with existing APIs, enabling comprehensive and efficient interactions with users. Open generative AI models, such as ChatGPT, have limitations when it comes to ensuring the fidelity of responses and avoiding the generation of incorrect information. In this talk, we will explore the shortcomings of generative AI technology and discuss alternative approaches to building chatbots that provide accurate and reliable responses.
