Bio

Elise Blaese is a Senior Project Manager for IBM Research. She supports the work of the research Healthcare and Life sciences team. She is also part of the the DREAM Challenges leadership team working on the Board of Directors as a DREAM Director and Co-Chair of the Annual RSG-DREAM Conference.  Elise works as the project manager on a number of NIH grants and is also working to support the development of open science communities and private public partnership in healthcare and life sciences between the NIH and IBM. 

Elise joined IBM Research in 2008 where she has been in charge of forging relationships at the NIH and NSF and finding opportunities for applying new technologies being developed in IBM Research to opportunities in these agencies particularly in the healthcare and life sciences arena. Before to joining IBM Research Elise has had a varied career in IBM’s Healthcare and Life Sciences organization working in both the Information Based Medicine and Life Sciences EBOs

Elise worked for NASA for 10 years in the Space Life Sciences research program where she was a project manager for the Life Sciences Data Archive (LSDA). Elise also worked in payload Mission Control for four Spacelab missions in the early 90’s.

Elise has an MBA from University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler Business School, MS in Space Studies in Astronaut Physiology from the University of North Dakota, and a BS in Biology from Gustavus Adolphus College.
