A study of spot recommendation personalization by considering personality traits

Abstract

In recent years, the number of foreign visitors to Japan has been increasing. Along with that, information about famous sightseeing spots can easily be obtained from various websites, etc., and sightseeing spot recommendation systems using AI have also increased. The mainstream is a system that recommends spots based on the user's hobbies and preference information. However, such existing recommendation systems tend to recommend spots based on users with similar hobbies and preferences, resulting in a single recommendation for the user. In this research, we would like to recommend sightseeing spots by a new approach and construct a system that recommends based on personality characteristics information using personality insights [1] (hereinafter PI) as described later. In this paper, we first verify that there is a tendency in the personality characteristics of the user for each spot, which is a prerequisite for constructing the system.
