An organo-catalytic approach to PET chemical recycling

Abstract

PET is a ubiquitous plastic used in beverage containers. Due to its semicrystalline nature, high melting point and relatively low Tg, processing of PET allows for exquisite control of percent crystallinity and size of crystallites. The familiar form of PET used in beverage applications combines the attributes of ductility (excellent mechanical properties), optical clarity and outstandingly low gas transport properties. © 2010 IBM Corporation.
