Electroactive and electrochromic films of electropolymerized polyazulene and polythiophene have been found to be surprisingly insensitive to common solvents and temperature. As electrodes in all-organic batteries these thin polymeric films allow current densities of 2 mA/cm2 at open-circuit voltages of 2.3V. The electrochromic properties suggest application in electrooptical displays. © 1984, The Electrochemical Society, Inc. All rights reserved.
