The magnetodynamic equation in the Landau-Lifshitz form has been formulated for distributed ferromagnetic-film systems, such as films with laminar magnetization or domain walls. Initial and boundary conditions are examined. The formulation lends itself easily to the numerical solution of both quasistatic- and dynamic-magnetization reversal problems, as illustrated by several examples. A number of applications for the formulation are also indicated. © 1967 The American Institute of Physics.
