Low SWaP Multi-spectral Imager: Design and Applications

Abstract

An IR camera, a visible-domain camera, a 3-D 60- GHz mmWave radar imager, and a tablet for visualization and control are integrated in a 10.5”×10“×5.75” volume realizing a portable multi-spectral imager. The associated software enables data upload to a remote server, the composition of multi-spectral images and the voxel-based visualization of 3-D distances of objects that are reflective at mmWave frequencies. Applications to the detection of hidden metallic objects and automotive imaging are presented. Initial results for the extension of this imager concept with a 94-GHz module are also presented.
