We have examined the effects of a constant homogeneous magnetic field applied perpendicular to a one-dimensional superlattice having a spatial period of a few hundred angstroms. The Landau levels are not equally spaced. The peaks in the de Haas-van Alphen effects are doubly split due to Van Hove singularities introduced by the superlattice potential. © 1974 The American Physical Society.
