The magnetization of Tb-Fe amorphous alloy films show large deviations from saturation for both the Tb and Fe magnetic subsystems caused by random crystal field anisotropy. The Faraday rotation is adequately accounted for by the influence of the Hall angle, and the Kerr effect is shown to be proportional to the Faraday rotation. © 1986.
