OPTIMIZATION OF DYNAMIC ACTUATOR PERFORMANCE FOR HIGH-SPEED VALVES.
Abstract
The dynamic performance of electromagnetic actuators driving on-off control values is optimized numerically by combining hybrid lumped/distributed parameter actuator models with an efficient constrained optimization technique. Three examples of constrained actuator optimization are presented where up to eight design parameters are optimized. One example problem is to minimize variations in the response time of a fuel-injection control valve caused by manufacturing and assembly tolerances. Two other examples deal with minimizing the response time of a high-speed gas sampling valve.
