Phase transitions in the self-consistent phonon approximation and a mean-field approximation

Abstract

An analysis is made of the possible structural transformations in the self-consistent phonon approximation, in a mean-field approximation, and in an exactly solvable model. The character of the transition is found to depend both on the theoretical treatment and on the parameters used in the model Hamiltonians. © 1972 The American Physical Society.
