Quantum Error mitigation as a continuous path toward utility of quantum computer

View publication

Abstract

Recent progress on superconducting qubit system made tremendous improvements in both quality and scale. Along with the hardware improvements, progresses in error mitigation technique allows us to experimentally explore quantum circuits at scales for quantum advantage. In this talk, we will present our experimental effort to implement error mitigation technique at fixed-frequency 127 qubit superconducting quantum processor. We use non-equilibrium many-body physics as an example and compare obtained observables against results from leading classical approximation method. Our result shed a light on finding utility of noisy quantum computing beyond classical approximation methods prior to the advent of fault-tolerant quantum computing.
