Response to Wilson: a week won't do it

Greg Wilson's article in the summer 1996 IEEE CS&E raises important issues regarding the level of software design and engineering skill a practicing scientist or engineer should have. While it is hard to argue that more knowledge about the art of programming is bad, the wide range of computing usage that exists in the technical community is highlighted.
