The IBM Series/1 is a family of versatile and powerful computers announced at the end of 1976. From that point on the Series/1 has been constantly growing both in hardware and software and the product is still evolving. Series/1 has been used as a DDP system in the past but with RM it became a member of the SNA family. Now host products like HCF, NCCF, and NPDA can be used to control a Series/1 network. The RM product (remote manager) is the counterpart to those products on a Series/1. A host connected (SNA) Series/1 may be connected to other Series/1's (non SNA Downstream Nodes). How a Series/1 (SNA and non SNA) can participate in network management is shown.
