Bio

Daniele Lotito is Research Scientist at IBM Research and member of the Next Generation Systems team at IBM Research Ireland. His research focuses on the statistical aspects of the processes of creating and servicing large machine learning models. At the same time, he explores the mathematical foundations of computation with tools from statistics and mathematical physics. Daniele Lotito is currently working on AI and statistics-based tools that enable rapid and reproducible execution of computational experiments.

Daniele Lotito is in the dissertation defense process for the Italian National Ph.D. Program in Artificial Intelligence hosted by University of Pisa. During his Ph.D. studies, Daniele explored the deep connections between statistical physics of complex systems and artificial neural networks, contributing to the rise of an optimized and explainable theory of Artificial Intelligence. His scholarship was co-founded by the Italian Institute for Advanced Mathematical Studies INdAM and by the Italian National Research Council CNR and concerns the theoretical foundations of Artificial Intelligence. Finally, Daniele holds a Master’s degree in Theoretical Physics and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from University of Salento, both earned with honors.
