Leo Gross has been with the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory since 2005. First as a postdoc in the group of Gerhard Meyer and since 2009 as Research Staff Member. He is the team lead of the atom and molecule manipulation group. He studies molecules and on-surface reactions by scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). He develops and applies AFM as a tool for molecular synthesis, structure elucidation and investigation of single-electron charging and charge transfer on the atomic scale.
Leo received his PhD in Physics in 2005 from the Free University of Berlin in the group of Prof. K.-H. Rieder.
