Masao Tokunari received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Tokyo in 2002, 2004 and 2008, respectively.
In 2008, he joined IBM Research – Tokyo, where he is a staff research scientist and working on research and development of quantum hardware to scale superconducting quantum computers. His research interests include quantum hardware components, quantum transduction, optical interconnects, gravitational wave detector technology. He is an Asia co-chair of the photonics committee of the IEEE Electronic Components and Technology Conference (ECTC). He received the IEEE CPMT Japan Chapter Young Award in 2012.
