A note on functions which operate
Abstract
Let ๐ , B denote two families of functions a, b: X โ Y. A function F:Z โY โ Y is said to operate in (๐ , B) provided that for each a โ๐ with range (a)โ Z we have F(a)โ B. Let G denote a locally compact Abelian group. In this paper we characterize the functions which operate in two cases: (i) ๐ = ฯr(G) = positive definite functions on G with ฯ(e) = r and B = ฯi.d.,.(G) = infinitely divisible positive definite functions on G with ฯ(e) = s. (ii) ๐ = B = ฯโผ(G) = ฯi.d.,.(G). ยฉ 1968 by Pacific Journal of Mathematics.
