Low-Temperature Pyromagnetic Measurements on Nickel
Abstract
A new technique is described for making low-temperature measurements of magnetization changes with temperature by using the pyromagnetic effect. Its sensitivity is one to two orders of magnitude better than previous methods in which the total magnetization is measured at each temperature. The magnetization of a nickel single crystal has been found to decrease monotonically from 4.2°K to 50°K without an anomalous dip near 10°K as has been previously reported. © 1961 The American Institute of Physics.
