Resonant soft X-ray Bragg diffraction is used to probe the magnetic and possible orbital ordering below the metal-insulator transition in the NdNiO3. Preliminary measurements, performed at the Ni L2, 3 edges, suggest the absence of orbital ordering at TMI. The observed signal probes the magnetic ordering of the Ni and Nd moments. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
