Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems
Methods for metadata-driven universal multimedia access (UMA) were presented. Methods of adaptation included rate reduction, adaptive spatial and temporal sampling, quality reduction, summarization, personalization, and reediting of the multimedia content. It was stated that from the network prespective, UMA involved important concepts related to the growing variety of communication channels, dynamic bandwidth variation and perceptual quality of service (QOS). Metadata in UMA, in relation to MPEG-7 metadata standard was also discussed.
