My career as a quantum computing researcher
Abstract
How did I land my career in quantum computing? I did not know anything about quantum computing when I first started graduate school. I learned about the field through seminars and classes I took in my first year, and through the research group I joined where one of the focuses was on developing highly quantum-coherent devices. In this talk, I will give you an introduction to quantum computing, focusing on superconducting qubits, which is the system I work on as an experimental researcher at IBM Quantum. I will also discuss how I got into this field, along with some key differences I have observed working in a research lab in an academic setting and in an industry.
