Synthesis and physical properties of plasma-polymerized polymer films with metal inclusions
Abstract
Metal containing polymer thin film composites are of interest in many areas. The author reviews some examples how optical and electrical properties of such systems can be systematically altered both above and below onset of percolation. Excellent agreement with contemporary Effective Medium Theories predicting these physical characteristics for composite systems has been demonstrated. Most recently, magnetic properties involving Co cluster dispersions in plasma-polymerized hydrocarbon matrices have been studied. Evidence are given to demonstrate that the transition metal clusters are in the zero valent state as prepared.
