Enrique Vargas

Enrique Vargas is the Head of Quantum Business Development & Enterprise Partnerships for the Americas at IBM Quantum, where he leads a team advancing strategic client relationships and driving adoption of quantum computing across academia, national laboratories, and industry.

Since joining IBM Quantum in 2016 during its initial transition to the cloud, Enrique has been a key contributor to its growth and was among the first to complete IBM’s Quantum Ambassador technical training program. He brings deep experience at the intersection of business development, intellectual property, and emerging technology, having previously worked at IBM Research on licensing and partnerships in microelectronics, advanced packaging, and heterogeneous integration.

Earlier in his career, Enrique held roles in software development, consulting, and leadership at PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM Consulting, advising clients on innovation, technology strategy, and adoption. A passionate advocate for technology’s impact on business and society, he has played a visible role in positioning IBM Quantum as a leader in the quantum ecosystem, fostering collaborations that accelerate both research and enterprise use cases. Enrique holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Fordham University and a J.D. from New York Law School. He is a co-inventor on several IBM patents and a recipient of the IBM Research Division Award.
