Mridula Prathapan is a Research Staff Member at IBM Zurich Research Lab. She received her PhD in Electrical Engineering (magna cum laude) from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany in 2020. She joined IBM Research – Zurich in Rueschlikon, Switzerland as a postdoctoral researcher in February 2020.
Prior to joining IBM, she worked as a Component Design Engineer at Intel Corporation from 2012 to 2016. She was part of the corporate memory organization spread across Austin, Bangalore and Portland. He work included developing memory compilers for SoC and mobile platforms in sub-14 nm processes. She developed a unified timing and power characterization methodology for SRAM, register files, TCAM and ROM, for which she recieved an Intel department recognition award in 2015.
In 2016, she was awarded a doctoral fellowship at the Karlsruhe School of Elementary Particle and Astroparticle Physics: Science and Technology (KSETA). She joined Prof. Ivan Peric's group at KIT, where she developed a novel readout method for monolithic high voltage CMOS sensors (HVCMOS) in commercial CMOS processes. The HVCMOS sensors are proposed as a cost efficient replacement for the hybrid particle sensors used in high energy physics experiments such as the ATLAS detector at CERN.
Her current research interests include: , , Device chracterization at deep cryogenic temperatures, Architecture modelling of qubit control and readout systems, Quantum error correction on
Experiments with cryogenic CMOS controller on spin qubits
Low power data converter design for quantum control electronics
FinFET device characterization at deep cryogenic temperatures
